Operator Briefing - FAQ
Assignment: anomaly investigation and containment. Last updated: 21 September 2026
Operators,
Review the following briefing for essential information about Phantom Line. This document will be updated as new information is confirmed.
Mission Overview: What is Phantom Line?
Phantom Line is a paranormal co-op shooter for one to four players, set in post-nuclear Europe. As part of a paranormal SWAT team working for Mortfield Industries, your mission is to locate and contain anomalies (paranormal events and activities hidden from the public eye) in an open world full of dynamic events.
Initial Assignment: how does the Prologue relate to the main game?
Phantom Line: Prologue is a free introductory chapter to the full experience.
Your first deployment takes place on the introductory island. You’ll learn the core combat and survival mechanics, undertake your first story mission, and reach Hestia, the ship that serves as your base of operations. You’ll also have access to some of the island’s open-world features.
The island also contains portals leading to Anomaly Pockets: procedurally generated realities where familiar spaces become unpredictable and the rules of reality change.
The Prologue is smaller in scope than the full game, but it offers a first look at the systems, atmosphere, and hostile world we’re continuing to build. The full Phantom Line experience will expand beyond the introductory island with a larger world, more anomalies, and further systems still in development.
Combat Operations: is Phantom Line PvE or PvP?
Phantom Line is a PvE game, designed around cooperation. We believe some of the best moments come from making a plan together, adapting when it falls apart, and finding a way through as a squad.
You face threats controlled by the game in a world that continues to change around you. Dynamic events and evolving battles make the warzone feel active, creating situations that call for observation, tactical decisions, and coordination.
Whether you deploy alone or with friends, the focus is on overcoming those challenges together with the resources at your disposal.
Deployment: can I operate alone?
Yes. Solo play is a core part of how we’re designing Phantom Line. Our goal is to preserve the strategic depth and engaging encounters of a full squad when you’re playing alone.
As a solo Operator, you have two husks: artificially grown human bodies that you can switch between at will. You actively control one while AI controls the other. This gives you another body to position and work with, opening up tactical options even without another player.
Phantom Line also supports co-op with up to four players in total.
Deployment schedule: what is the release plan?
Phantom Line is still in development, with more playtests planned before release. We have an ambitious vision for the game, and we’re continuing to build, test, and refine the systems needed to deliver it.
Your feedback is essential to that process. Each playtest helps shape our priorities, improve the game’s systems, and guide what we work on next. We plan to launch in Early Access and continue developing the game alongside the community.
